Hideout POA

Woodworkers Draft Minutes of Meeting - 7/12/2011
The meeting was called to order at 7:00pm, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. There were 37 members present, including President Ken Wenz, VP Charlie David, Treasurer Jim Fleming, and Secretary Dave Testa.
Prior to the regular meeting, Bill Rooney spoke to the group about the revised agreement of the POA and the Hideout Woodworkers, who are an amenity within the Hideout community. The Recreation Department will receive the annual WW amenity fee and arrange for OSHA safety training in order for Woodworkers to have access to the workshop. Specific machine training, maintenance, repair, supplies and clean-up will be the responsibility of Woodworker members, as it has been in the past. Daily access will be 7am to 10pm, seven days a week, with Woodworkers to adhere to the requirement that two registered Woodworkers need to be in the shop in order to use machine tools. We thank and appreciate the efforts of Bill Rooney in modifying the working arrangement between the POA and the Woodworkers.
Minutes: Dave Testa read the minutes for the June 14, 2011 meeting. There were no corrections or changes. Motion to accept the minutes was approved by those present. Dave Testa requested approval for the meeting to be taped. There were no objections.
Treasurer’s Report: Jim Flemming presented the Treasurer’s report for June 2011, and a copy is on file.
Committee Assignments: Ken Wenz will put together committee assignments and asks for volunteers. For this meeting, there were no committee reports for kitchen and housekeeping, training, building and shop repair and maintenance, safety, publicity and scholarship fund committees. There was no scholarship fund process in place in time for this year.
Sickness & Distress: Bob Carpenter had surgery and is recovering in the hospital. Pat Flemming is doing well.
Social Scene: The Yankee game outing on July 7 was successful, with only a few unsold tickets out of the 32 tickets purchased.
The annual Woodworkers’ picnic is scheduled for August 9 at 2:00 pm. Art Shelko, Joe Nelson, Vito Montone and Mike Loughlin are organizing the picnic, and will use a local caterer.  Beverages and snacks are each member’s responsibility. Motion offered by Art, seconded by Vito, for the club to subsidize $5 of the cost, resulting in a $6 price per person attending, passed unanimously.
The annual dinner and dance is tentatively scheduled for October. A committee needs to be formed by next month and arrangements made.
An overnight golf outing is planned for Villa Roma on October 2. Golfers should check in by 4pm on Sunday; with a dinner and show that evening, and golf tee time at 9am on Monday. Rates are $178.50 for double occupancy and $219 for a single occupant. Those who want to golf on Sunday afternoon will have a discounted rate of $25 for the round with cart. Mike Nestor has made the arrangements and will post a sign-up sheet on the board in the workshop kitchen.
Junior Woodworkers: Vito Montone requested help for the junior woodworkers’ project scheduled for August 20. Volunteers were recognized by showing of hands.
Old Business: Other than the discussion with Bill Rooney, noted above, there are no further issues. The social aspects of the woodworkers and conduct of workshop operations will operate as before, and no separate club will be formed.
New Business: John Armato of the Hideout Emergency Response Team asked for assistance in setting up scenery for the August 5 auto show sponsored by the EMT’s at the Hideout campgrounds. Set-up will be on the morning of the 4th. Charlie David and Fred Beermann, Joe Stach, Steve Welchman, and Stan Weckstein volunteered.
On a motion by Jim Lagrossa, seconded by Bill Dimmick, and agreement by all, the meeting adjourned at 8:10pm. Next meeting is scheduled for September 13.

At our February meeting, the members present suggested that I invite Ralph Graf and at least one Board Member to attend our March meeting to answer questions related to the re-organization, this was done. Ralph stated “no one was available for tonight.” However, we were invited to attend the Board Workshop scheduled for March 4 at 7pm. However, this was postponed to a later date. (No date given). The next 25 minutes were devoted to a discussion related to this “Reorganization Plan.”  As a result an ad hoc committee of Sid Hirschfeld, Jim Lagrosa, Rich Martinez and Ken Wenz was formed to address our concerns and forward them to the POA Board Members.

Announcements: Bill Reinhardt will be leaving us in April for a “warmer” climate. Bill has been a woodworker for 11 years. During this time his devotion to maintaining and up-dating the shop and it’s equipment has made the Woodshop a better place to work. He is an accomplished craftsman as illustrated by the many projects he has constructed for the Hideout. To name a few, the Bar and Stage in the Lodge. Most recently the Reception desk for the Physical Fitness Center. Woodworkers, watch the shop bulletin board for date, time and place for “pizza luncheon” to honor Bill.
