The Hideout Woodworkers Club was established to bring together a group of people interested in the hobby of Woodworking.
Meetings are held the 2nd Tuesday of each month. The first woodworkers meeting was held in October 1996 at the Art Center. 13 members attended to discuss a facility for a woodshop. In 1997 the group moved to the old Clubhouse kitchen area. At this point there were 77 members. Today there are 119 members and the Wood Shop is a reality.
Hideout Woodworkers Committee Draft Minutes of Meeting - 6/10/08 1. President Wenz called the meeting to order at 7:00p.m. 2.President Wenz led those members present in the Pledge of Allegence 3. Minutes: Bob Wiegand read the minutes from the May 19, 2008 meeting and they were amended to read that the requested Golf Club rack for the Pro Shop was for rental clubs not lost ones. Minutes shall stand as corrected. 4. Treasurer’s Report: Joe Stach read the Treasurer’s Report for the Month of May 2008. Report was accepted as read and a copy of which is on file. 5. Correspondence - Incoming Pres. Wenz read a letter from Betty Covey hoping that the sign at their Flea Market was helpful in directing traffic to our Craft fair. She also praised the spirit of helping within the Hideout and included a $100 check for our treasury. Outgoing - Pres. Wenz sent a thank you note, and a gift certificate to Betty Voulo in appreciation for her running of the Craft fair. Ken also sent a note of thanks to the LAW for their donation of $500 towards our Scholarship program. 6. Sickness & Distress: The members presented updated information on the health status of Andy Mihok, Cosmo Pepe, Ray Bradbury and Janice Wagner. Bill Wagner thanked the membership for their caring, well wishes and meals that were provided while Janice was recovering. 7. Committee Reports: House & buildings - Jim Lagrossa had nothing new to report. Tools & Purchase - Bill Reinhardt reported that he purchased a new Brad & staple nailer. Safety - Pres. Wenz reported that when he came into the shop he found the Rag Safety can overflowing and that this posed a fire hazard, he also stressed the importance of cleaning up after yourself, and that if you see something that needs attention to step up and either clean it, empty it or notify someone to correct a problem if they could not handle it themselves. 8. Social Scene- Ball Game-Dom Lucarelli reported that there were only nine tickets left for the Yankee game on July 22, and if you have not paid as of yet to pay up this week. Picnic-Walter Porr stated that the Picnic was all set to go. It will be held August 12 starting 1:30PM, Cost $10. Cut off date August 1. Sign up sheet, menu posted on the bulletin board. Overnight Golf Outing - Dom reported that he & Mike Nestor bad been in contact with The Honor Resort and Villa Roma, both are located in NY, trying to get the best deal for us. They are presently leaning towards Villa Roma as the price is much better. At this time it looks like the dates will be either the 1st or 2nd weekend after Labor Day. They will have more to report at the next meeting. Dinner Dance - Dom informed the membership that the dance will be held on October 26 at Ehrhardt’s Restaurant, he has not met with Eric for the menu as of yet but will report back when Menu is finalized. Beauty Contest at Benneco's will be held on July 6, Seating is limited see Dom for details. OLD BUSINESS: Craft Fair - Andy Voulo thanked all who helped on Friday & Saturday and stated that it was a wonderful affair, and that the vendors were thrilled. He told us that we took in $1,125, our only expense was $25 for cost of mailings, so we made a profit of $1,100. Andy informed us that he would not be running the Craft Fair next year and would need someone to step up and run it. Raffle update - Pres. Wenz reported that 123 chance books had been sold and so far we have taken in $1454 to date. We have sold out all of this year's books so we are using last year's tickets to keep up with the raffle tickets demand. We do not have the totals for the books sent to our members as of now, but will have a report next month. Junior Woodworkers - Vito informed us that the workshops will be held on July 26, and that the project would be birdfeeders. He has placed ads in the Hideabout, the Extra and on the bulletin boards. Help will be needed please sign up. Bylaw Committee - Mike Loughlin has prepared recommendations however the committee has not been able to met yet for discussion. More info will follow after their meeting. Scholarship - Pres Wenz attended the Western Wayne H.S. Awards Assembly on June 4th, 2008, and presented the following awards to recipients Doug Shelp $1000, Kristi Ferinelli $500, and Bob Killian $500. Ken stated that he was very pleased by the ceremony and presentations, and that we should all be very proud of what we did for the students. NEW BUSINESS: Pres. Wenz brought up the subject of The Woodworkers honoring the late Dick Loughrey for the contributions he had made to the founding of our organization and especially his time, hard work, and dedication in getting us our present home. After some discussion it was decided that a group consisting of Bob Wiegand, Steve Welchman and Vito Montone would explore different ways to recognize Dick for his efforts. Teams - Pres. Wenz spoke about the "Project Teams" that we had in the past. These team consisted of both experienced and new members. The benefits were twofold as we had the opportunity to make larger and worthwhile projects, and the newer or inexperienced members would learn how to use our tools both safely and proficiently. In addition, the Team concept also will foster camaraderie. ANNOUNCEMENTS: Don Perry displayed a model ship that he was repairing and restoring for the Library. The ship itself was started by an unknown woodworker and was donated to the Library in its still unfinished state. Don who has worked on wooden models before, stepped up to complete it for them. The ship is a work of art and anyone desiring to help in its restoration should contact Don. Andy Voulo made a suggestion that we purchase and keep on hand Woodworker sweatshirts for purchase by our members. It was agreed that we would purchase some shirts at Kevin's, but they would only be larger sizes. If you would like smaller sizes they would have to be special ordered. Bill Reinhardt spoke to Mike Kline regarding Tee boxes and the cost it would take for us to make them properly, it was decided that Mike would be better off purchasing the pre made Tee boxes. Bill also stated that the rental golf club racks we made and are in use at the Pro Shop. The racks had taken two days to make. Pres. Wenz informed the membership that it was important to report their time spent on community projects so that we would have a record of our contributions to the Hideout. Hideout Woodworkers Draft Minutes of Meeting - April 8, 2008 President Wenz called the meeting to order at 7p.m. (1) President Wenz led those members present in the Pledge of Allegiance. (2) President Wenz welcomed back returning "Snow-Birds." (3) Minutes-Andy read the minutes of the March 11, 08 meeting-They were accepted as read. (4) Treasurer’s Report-Joe Stach gave the Treasurer’s report for the month of March. The report was accepted as read. A copy of which is on file. (5) Correspondence-Pres. Wenz read a thank you note from the Art Committee for the Woodworkers $100.00 (one hundred dollar) contribution to their program "A Tribute to Our Troops.” If any Woodworker has a sibling or relative serving our Country in these overseas conflict areas please let President Wenz know. (6) Sickness & Distress-President Wenz sent a get well card to Mrs. Bond who recently had her hip replaced. Also a sympathy card to the Mihok family for the passing of his mother.
(7) House & Building-(a) Please take note that the Spring cleanup of the shop and surrounding grounds will take place on April 25, 08 starting at 9:30am. (b) President Wenz thanked Bill Bond for replacing the lighting ballasts in the shop area. (c) Purchasing-Bill Reinhardt explained what the problem was with the band saw. Periodically the rubber on the drive wheels have to be replaced. The drum sander table was replaced. A "jig" was purchased for making cabinet shelving. Please pay attention when using table saws, check plumbness of the blade before starting your cut. President Wenz is checking out a digital router. (d) Social Activities-Bill Bond reported info for our annual York Golf Outing. Dom reported on the beauty contest to be held on July 06,08 at Bennoco's Restaurant in Hamlin. It is a fund raiser for a local gentleman suffering with M.S. See Dom for details. (e)Library-President Wenz reported he has DVD'S on all sorts of info for woodworking projects. Also make use of the magazine subscriptions we get at the shop. (8) Old Business-(a)Tom K reported that Andy Vuolo has ordered the Craft Show Raffle Tickets. (b)Andy Vuolo reported that Craft Fair tables have just about sold out. Andy will check with Maintenance when the time comes that we will need thirty (30) tables. He will also check with Maintenance now that they have a "cherry picker” if they can assist us by putting advertising banners across the road by the Main & North Gates. Andy will also need help setting up tables the day before. The Craft Fair is scheduled for Sat., May 24, 08, 10am-4pm at the Hideout Lodge. (c) Scholarship-Bill Carney reported that we have four applicants so far that we will be interviewing. (e)Because of a conflict with our scheduled May 20 Business Meeting date it will be changed to May 19-Please take note. (f) By- Law Review-President Wenz mentioned at the last meeting about setting up a small committee to review the By-Laws. It was tabled until this meeting. A committee consisting of Michael Loughlin, Marie Fleischmann and President Wenz will review these by-laws. (9) New Business-President Wenz reported on the excellent model type work being done by Woodworker Don Perry in his basement. (10) Announcements-It was reported that of the three (3) large heavy duty plastic trash barrels around in the shop only one remains. Also five (5) extension cords that belong and were in the shop are missing. There being no further business a motion by Bill Wagner, seconded by Bob Daly to adjourn this meeting. Passed unanimously. Hideout Woodworkers Draft Minutes of Meeting - March 11, 2008
Pres. Wenz led members present in the Pledge of Allegiance. Welcome: February 12, 08 meeting was cancelled due to inclement weather. Feb meeting will be incorporated into this Meeting. Mr. Capone welcomed from Feb. meeting. Ed Mitchell, former member now living in South Carolina, sends his best. Minutes: Andy read minutes of the Jan. 08, 08 minutes.They were approved as read. Treasurer’s Report: In the absence of our Treasurer, Pres. Wenz gave the report for the month of Jan. 08 & Feb. 12. The report was accepted as read. A copy of which is on file. Correspondence: A thank you card was received from Betty Vuolo thanking the Woodworkers for their kind expression of sympathy for her Husband Andy's Brother. Sickness & Distress: Pres. Wenz thought it was great seeing Bill Reinhardt at this meeting, walking without a limp after having corrective work done on his other knee. An expression of sympathy was extended by Pres.Wenz on behalf of the Woodworkers to Raphael Fernandez for the passing of his Father-in-Law. Committee Reports: (a) Jim Lagrosa has posted a sign in the shop reminding everyone that the Spring cleanup for the shop and outside Woodworker properties will be on Friday, April 25 starting at 9:30a.m. Jim also reminded everyone to clean their ceramic cups and all other dishes and utensils and put them away when done enjoying the gourmet shop coffee. Safety,Training, Security: Pres Wenz told Mr Capone and anyone else interested to see him after the meeting to set up a training session. Purchasing: Bill Reinhardt purchased two (2) palm sanders, and other sanding supplies.Bill also purchased a new blade for the planer. There was a serious problem with the band saw. The problem was beyond comprehension as to how it could have happened. As usual the "gremlins'' did it. Social Events: Dom Lucarelli received a call from Robin of Beneco's Restaurant in Hamlin that on July 06, 08 there is going to be a fundraiser for a disabled young man.Dom said the plans call for a beauty pageant similar to our “GIRLEE” Golf Day which was held a few years ago. More information to follow. The Annual Ehrhardt’s Ice Golf Tournament was cancelled because of unsafe ice. Library: Pres Wenz reported that Pat Loughrey donated a bunch of Woodworker books and magazines to the shop. Old Business: (a) Our end of the Eagle Scout Project has been completed. (b) Pres. Wenz reported that we have received one inquiry and one phone call about the Woodworkers Scholarship offering thus far. New Business: (a) Bill Bond reminded everyone that the signup sheet for our annual York, Pa. golf outing is posted on the bulletin board in the kitchen-It will be May l2, 13, 14. Further information and instructions will be forthcoming. (b) Pres.Wenz would like to get a small committee together to review the Woodworker By-Laws.This was tabled until the next meeting. (c) Pres Wenz reported that there is a conflict with the May 20, 08 business meeting.There is a Diner scheduled for the same night at Woodloch. (d) Raffle- Tom K will head up the raffle prizes again this year. Has gotten Sam Pantiliano to make a settee set. Bill Reinhardt is making a cherry wood table. Volunteers will be needed to help with these projects. A trellis bench has also been suggested. Tom also needs 2 birdhouses for the golf course. (e) Art Committee Donation-Pres Wenz reported that the Art Committee is looking for donations for a "TRIBUTE TO OUR TROOPS." If each Committee in the Hideout would contribute $50.00 to $100.00 correspondence and a variety of packages would be sent to the Hideout Servicemen serving our Country in the conflicts overseas. Hideout Woodworkers Draft Minutes of Meeting - January 8, 2008 President Wenz called the Meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. President Wenz led the members in the Pledge of Allegiance. Secretary Report—The minutes of the November 13, 2007 meeting were approved as read. Treasurers Report—Joe Stach read an itemized report on our income and expenses for November and December 2007. The report was accepted as read. A copy of which is on file. Correspondence—Pres.Wenz reported that a Hamilton Beach Toaster Oven was donated to our kitchen by Jim Fleming's Daughter. Jim Lagrosa sent a thank you note to her for this generous gift. Pres.Wenz received a thank you note from the Victims Intervention Program thanking the Woodworkers for the beautiful hand made toys that were made for their children. Sickness & Distress—Pres. Wenz extended the Woodworkers deepest sympatny to Andy Vuolo for the loss of his Brother. Standing Committee Reports— (a)-Safety, Training, Security--Ken reported that in the absence of Bill Carney that he has the pin numbers for the door code if anyone needs one. Ken also mentioned that he would be willing to set up a training course for the new members and/or a refresher course for those members who felt they needed one. John F. Loab was introduced as a new member. Purchasing & Maintence—Bill Reinhardt explained about the revamped dust collection system. Reminded the members to make sure that the gates were open when using the dust collectors. A new small lathe has been purchased for small projects, (e.g. pens etc.). Two lithium batteries were purchased for the portable-drills.They cost $70.00 dollars each-Please treat these and all tools very carefully. Social Events—Dom Lucarelli reported that the Christmas Luncheon was enjoyed by all that attended. Thanks were extended to Joe Stach and Andy Vuolo for a job well done. Old Business—Andy Vuolo reported that the Eagle Scout Project is progressing nicely. The weather is becoming a factor. There is a time limit on this project and the weather is not co-operating. Shop Cleanliness-When using the table saw, miter saw, sanding machines etc. please clean up after yourself after you finish using these machines. Scholarship—The Scholarship Committee has come up with guide-lines for the awarding of this Scholarship. After a lengthy discussion from the floor, a motion was made for an amount not to exceed fifteen hundred dollars ($1,500.00) by Bill Reinhardt, seconded by Art Shelko. This fund shall come from our annual Craft Show. A reminder that our membership dues for 2008 are due. They will remain at thirty-six dollars ($36.00) for the year.
New Business—Pres.Wenz reported that a small wood-carving set had been received.They were dropped off at the shop by Pat Ware. Unfortunately there was no address or phone number to be able to thank this person by phone or with a thank you note. If anyone knows this person, please tell Ken. Went over the 2008 activities calender in regard to dates. Shovel walkway—Seems like the same guys are shoveling our walkways . It was felt that the first person going to the shop after a snowfall should take care of this chore. A comment was made that we are an amenity and as such Maintenance should take care of this. It will be looked into. Volunteer Time—Pres.Wenz reported that the Woodworkers volunteered four-hundred and twelve (412) hours on various projects for the Hideout in 2007.

Woodworkers Committee Draft Minutes - September 11, 2007 The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m, led the members in the Pledge of Allegiance and welcomed new members. Secretary Report: Fred Held. The minutes of the July 11, 2007 Woodworkers Meeting, was approved as read. The Treasurers Report: Joe Stach. The Treasurer’s report was accepted as read. A copy is on file. Correspondence Report: Sickness and Distress: President Wenz sent a thank you letter to the LAW for providing a sheet cake at the picnic. John Healy is home recovering from surgery. Bruce Cameron thanked everyone for their cards and well wishes during his recovery. Committee Reports: House & Building Maintenance: Jim Lagrosa. The fall shop clean up will be held the end of October. The holiday luncheon is scheduled for December 5th. Joe Stack and Andy Vuolo will coordinate the luncheon. President Wenz thanked Tom K for coordinating the construction of the new clamp rack. Safety, Training & Security:. President Wenz will conduct a training session September 15th at 10 AM for all new members and anyone who would like to attend. Purchasing and Maintenance: Bill Reinhardt/Bill Nelson. Bill mentioned that a panel cutter was installed in the shop. This panel cutter can be used instead of the table saw for culling or ripping larger 4 x 8 sheets. The exhaust fan was purchased for the paint room. Also looking into procuring a small lathe. The belt for the drum sander is on order. Social Events: Picnic - Dominic Lucarelli The picnic was a success. President Wenz mentioned that next year, we may want to consider serving chicken pieces instead of 1/2 a chicken. Villa Roma Golf: Dominic Lucarelli. The accommodations, staff and food was great. A good time was had by all. Octoberfest Dinner Dance: Dick Loughery: Currently 87 people have signed up. There are sign up forms if any new members would like to attend. The LAW will be making center pieces and Linda will provide the place settings. Bob Rebhun Golf Classic.: Larry Lutz The event will be held September 19th. There will be a shotgun start at 11 AM. The fee is $35 which includes beverages and hot dogs on the course, prizes and a dinner at 4:30 PM. Greens fees and cart for 18 holes is additional (not included in the $35). Old Business: Junior Woodworkers: Vito Montone. President Wenz mentioned that the event was a success and thanked the members that provided their assistance. Pictures were taken and an article was prepared for the Hideabout. There were approximately 24 children who attended. This event will be continued next year. Scholarship Bill Carney. A meeting is planned in October with Western Wayne HS Guidance Center staff to discuss our ideas and obtain their feedback. New Business: President Wenz: A nominating committee was formed to elect offices for the next term. The election will be held in November. The nominating committee will consist of Mike Nestor, Jim Fleming and Art Shelko. Discussions concerning additions to the building such as a storage shed were previously mentioned. If we are serious, please express your ideas and concerns to Bill and Jim. If we were to build a storage shed, plans would have to be drawn up and approach the POA for next years budget consideration. President Wenz received a request from the Adult Social Group to borrow the center pieces for their holiday party. The request was agreed to. Andy Vuolo mentioned that Eagle Scout project may not happen because the scout may be moving. Andy will confirm this. There will not be an October meeting in lieu of the Dinner Dance. There being no further business President Wenz asked for a motion to adjourn this meeting. Mike Nestor made a motion to adjourn the meeting, and seconded by Manny Nash. Woodworkers Draft Minutes - July 10, 2007 President Wenz called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m, led the members in the Pledge of Allegiance. Secretary Report: Fred Held. The minutes of the June 12, 2007 Woodworkers Meeting, was approved as read. The Treasurers Report: Joe Stach. The treasures report was accepted as read. A copy is on file. Correspondence Report: Sickness and Distress: President Wenz read a thank you letter from Lilly Mathews in appreciation for delivering the craft show first prize and expressed her thanks to the woodworkers. John Healy is now home after an automobile accident. Committee Reports: House & Building Maintenance: Jim Lagrosa. President Wenz mentioned that a new cutting base was installed for the radial arm saw and instructed the group to adjust the depth of saw so that the blade does not cut deeply into the base but is just low enough to cut into the material being cut. Safety, Training & Security: President Wenz and Bill Reinhardt discussed the charred cabinet door and advised the group to not use any open flames inside the premises. Al mentioned that paint brushes are being left out in the paint room. Any paint brushes left out will be thrown out. Bill Carney stated that all door access pin numbers have been assigned. The new system seems to be working and the only difference being that only the four (4) pin numbers are entered whereas in the old system there was an enter key. The new system does not use an enter key. President Wenz reported that two (2) people attended last Saturday’s training session. Purchasing and Maintenance: Bill Reinhardt. Bill mentioned that a new vacuum was recently purchased and funds were previously authorized for an exhaust fan and a small lathe. Joe purchased a moisture meter and President Wenz explained how to use it. There are two (2) sensing probes and it is activated by pressing the probes into the wood which turns on the meter. It will light up and display the reading. A reading of 20 was taken from a wet piece of wood and a reading of 4.5 from a dry piece of wood. A reading of 6 is acceptable. Specific readings and directions are with the meter. Bill is also looking into purchasing a panel saw and discussed a used one that may be available nearby instead of purchasing a new one. Social Events: Baseball Game: Dominic Lucarelli. Dominic has already handed out most of the tickets. Several tickets still available. Picnic Dominic Lucarelli. The menu will be 1/2 chicken, potato salad, cold slaw, tossed salad, baked beans, corn on the cob and ice will also be provided. The woodworkers must supply the paper products and your own drinks. The cost is $7.00 per person. The date is Tuesday August 7th 2PM to no later than 11PM close up time. Food will be served at 4PM. The sign up sheet is on the table and will be posted on the bulletin board. Make checks out to the Hideout Woodworkers and place then in the treasures box by July 30th. Villa Roma Golf: Dominic Lucarelli. The date is Monday September 10. Cost for a golf package with double occupancy is $137.00 per person. Single occupancy is $169.00. For a non golfer the cost is $109.83. Included for golf on Monday are greens fees with a cart. There is a shotgun start at 8:30AM. On Monday, a barbeque buffet will be available for $15 per person at 12:30 after the round There will be a hospitality room and dinner. There will be breakfast on Tuesday. Breakfast also available on Monday morning for $7.95 at the club house. If you want to play golf on Tuesday, the cost is $20.00. If anyone would like to go on Sunday the hotel cost is $99.00. Sign up sheet is on the table. To sign up, make out a check to the Hideout Woodworkers for $50.00 deposit for each room by August 1st. Check is at the timeshare office not the lobby (lobby construction not yet completed). All shops and swimming pool is open. October Fest Dinner Dance: Dick Loughrey. Dick met with Mr. Ehrhardt and everything is set for October 9th 6PM to 11PM includes wine & beer and cash bar. It was determined that prime rib and Boston baked cod fish will be the entrees. A sign up flyer will be mailed to the membership describing the event, cost and due date. Old Business: Craft Show: Andy Vuolo President Wenz expressed our appreciation to Andy and Betty for their efforts. Raffle: Tom K. One hundred and one (101) raffle books were mailed out to the members and 70% were mailed back. The receipts for this year were less than last year. No one volunteered to sell at the POA or the beach on July 1st. President Wenz expressed our appreciation to Tom and all those who worked on the raffle projects. For next year, Bill Reinhardt volunteered to build a cherry top table. Junior Woodworkers: Vito Montone. The Junior Woodworkers clinic will be on Saturday July 21st. There will be two (2) sessions. (9AM to 11AM and 1PM to 3PM). Currently eighteen (18) children are signed up. The sign up cut off date is July 14th. If anyone knows any children who would like to participate, please get their names to Vito. Anyone having projects stored in the shop should remove them by July 20th or sooner. The whole shop is needed for the kids. All woodworkers who will be assisting should be here by 8:30 and 1PM. New Business: President Wenz: President Wenz discussed finances and checking account balances and mentioned that an eagle scout is interested in doing a project at the Northgate mailboxes. His plans have not yet been discussed and he was directed to contact Ralph Graph. After the plans are solidified, the woodworkers may be asked for support or materials where funds may be needed. President Wenz also discussed funding a scholarship and a storage shed. A committee consisting of Bill Carney (chairman), Bill Dimmick, Andy Vuolo and Ken Wenz was formed to further investigate funding a scholarship and other items. There will not be an August meeting in lieu of the picnic. Bob Wiegand requested that any woodworkers that are veterans provide him with pictures and service dates so that a wall can be constructed in the gazebo for Veterans day. Andy Vuolo made a motion to allocate $150 for a flag pole, seconded by Bill Donleavy There being no further business President Wenz asked for a motion to adjourn this meeting. Woodworkers Committee Minutes - June 12, 2007 President Wenz called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m, led the members in the Pledge of Allegiance, welcomed new member Stanley Weckstein and expressed our thanks to Andy Mihok for being acting secretary. Secretary Report: Fred Held. The minutes of the May 1, 2007 Woodworkers Meeting, was approved as read. The Treasurers Report: Joe Stach. The Treasurer’s Report was accepted as read. A copy is on file. Correspondence Report: Sickness and Distress: No correspondence was received. Committee Reports: House & Building Maintenance: Jim Lagrosa. Jim thanked Pat Fitzgerald for painting and Joe for providing a box of coffee filters. Safety, Training & Security: Bill Carney. All the newly assigned security pin numbers will become effective Wednesday, June 13th. All security numbers are now four (4) digits. If you have any questions contact Bill. Andy Vuolo reported finding everything but dirty rags in the rag bucket (newspapers, paint cans, pieces of wood etc. The bucket is not a garbage pail and should be used only for rags. If the bucket is full, place the rags in a plastic bag for Maintenance to dispose of. President Wenz reported that six (6) people attended last month’s training session. Purchasing and Maintenance: Bill Reinhardt. Bill had purchased several items for the shop. Bill and Joe are looking into an exhaust fan for the paint room. A discussion was held and $300 was allocated. Social Events: York Golf: Bill Bond. There were 25 people there and a golf committee of six people was in attendance. If anyone has any suggestions contact Bill. Bill also thanked Lou Maldonado for taking pictures which were on display. Baseball Game: Dominic Lucarelli. There are 36 people who signed up. All but two (2) people paid. The date is Sunday, August 5th at 5PM. The seats are in the right field party deck. If anyone would like to attend, tonight is the last time to sign up. Picnic: Dominic Lucarelli. Spoke to Barbara and the menu will be 1⁄2 chicken, potato salad, cold slaw, tossed salad, baked beans, corn on the cob and ice will also be provided. The Woodworkers must supply the paper products and your own drinks. The cost is $7.00 per person. The date is now Tuesday, August 7, 2PM to no later than 11PM close up time. Food will be served at 4PM. A sign up sheet will be posted on the bulletin board. Make checks out to the Hideout Woodworkers and place then in the Treasurer’s box. Villa Roma Golf: Dominic Lucarelli. The date is Monday, September 10. Cost for a golf package with double occupancy is $137.00 per person. Single occupancy is $169.00. For a non golfer the cost is $109.83. Included for golf on Monday are greens fees with a cart. There is a shotgun start at 9AM. There will be a hospitality room and dinner. There will be breakfast on Tuesday. If you want to play golf on Tuesday, the cost is $20.00. If anyone would like to go on Sunday the hotel cost is $99.00. There will be a sign up sheet on the bulletin board. To sign up, make out a check to the Hideout Woodworkers for $50.00 deposit for each room by August 1st. Dinner Dance: Dick Loughrey. An October Fest dinner/dance is planned at Ehrhardt’s on Tuesday, October 9. The same band from last October is scheduled. The cost, menu and further details will be forthcoming. Old Business: Craft Show: Andy Vuolo The craft show was a success. Andy thanked all that helped out with tables, kitchen, diagrams, cake sale, and food provided. Andy mentioned that there could have been more people to volunteer in selling raffle tickets at the show and POA. Pennsylvania House of Representatives Edward Stayback visited the Hamlin Senior Center and was so impressed by the Woodworkers volunteerism that he sent an American Flag as a thank you from his office. Flag mounting is under consideration. Contact President Wenz with suggestions. Raffle: Tom K. All members should have received their tickets in the mail. The 2nd and 3rd prizes are completed. The 1st prize is 60% completed. The last day for ticket sales is July 4th, the day of the raffle. Junior Woodworkers: Vito Montone. The Junior Woodworkers clinic will be on Saturday, July 21. There will be two (2) sessions. (9AM to 11AM and 1PM to 3PM). There is a sign-up sheet for people to help out on July 21st. If you know any children ages of 8 to 13 please encourage them to sign-up. Currently five (5) children are signed up. To date three (3) Woodworkers have signed up to assist the children with their project. They will be using the drill, hammer, sanding and cutting out their project. Refreshments will be provided by LAW. New Business: President Wenz: A budget will be submitted to Jeff. Dues will be given to the POA on an account to draw from during the year. Also looking into purchasing a small lathe and constructing a clamp rack. Bill Wagner announced that Earl and Ann Treffinger are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary. President Wenz and Andy Vuolo made an appeal that more people assist with shop clean-up on Fridays. Currently the same people are doing it. Anyone who uses equipment and makes saw dust should also clean up their sawdust. If the vacuum containers are full they should be emptied. There being no further business, President Wenz asked for a motion to adjourn this meeting. Bruce Cameron made a motion to adjourn the meeting, and seconded by Dennis Simmons. Meeting opened at 7:00p.m. President Wenz led those members present in the Pledge of Allegiance, and then welcomed new member Ben Carapella and those returning Snowbirds. Andy Mihok read the Minutes of the April 10, '07 Woodworkers Meeting.The minutes were approved as read. Joe Stach read the Treasurer’s Report. Joe itemized our income and expenses since our April 10, '07 Meeting. The report was accepted as read. A copy of which is on file. Sickness & Distress: Marie Fleischmann sent a get well card to Vito Montone who had back surgery recently. Committee Reports: (a) House & Bldg. - In the absence of Jim Lagrosa, President Wenz reported we had our annual Spring clean-up of the shop and the surrounding grounds on Friday, April 27. There were approx. 20-25 members who participated. (b) Safety,Training & Security: Bill Carney reported that we will be getting a new alarm system at the end of the month to accommodate our ever increasing membership. Al Weinberg reminded everyone that there is a receptacle in the Paint Room for flammable rags etc. Please use it President Wenz will have a Training/ Orientation class on Wed.,May 2 at 9:00 a.m. Social Events: (1)Bill Bond reported everything is set for the annual Golf Outing on the 14,15,16 of May at a total cost of $183.00 per person. (2)The monies for the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre vs. the Buffalo Bisons baseball game on Sunday Aug, 5 at 5:00 p.m. must be paid within the next 2 weeks.The cost is $15.00 per person. (3) The Annual Dinner Dance was held in October last year. It was suggested we keep this event in October. Old Business: (a)Tom K. reported that Al Weinberg will be in charge of the lst place prize for the Annual Raffle. Al asked for some help for this project. Tom K. also said he needs someone to organize the printing and distribution of the raffle tickets. (b) In the absence of Vito Montone, President Wenz reported that Vito has agreed to chair the annual Junior Woodworkers Project. Further info will follow. (c) Andy Vuolo reported that the Annual Craft Show has been sold out. The advertising banners cannot be installed on the electrical/ telephone poles by the main and north gates as they do not belong to us. Andy will also need help on Friday, May 25 at 10:00 a.m.to set up the Craft Show Tables and on Sat. May 26 at approx. 4:00 p.m. to dismantle the same. New Business: (a)The "Law Committee” of the Woodworkers requested if the Woodworkers could "rough" cut patterns for projects that they could finish. (b) Awareness—Ken had these comments. (1) vacuums-check to see if they need to be emptied (2) drill press— broken spring-please report the problem (3) planer had a nick in blade—please use the detection wand. President Wenz will be attending a P.O.A.Chairperson meeting. Announcements: Members 2007 annual dues are now due. Woodworkers Draft Minutes of Meeting - April 10, 2007 Meeting opened at 7:00p.m. President Wenz led the members present in the Pledge of Allegiance. President Wenz welcomed: A) The returning Snowbirds. B) New members—Sid Hirschfeld and John Johnson. President Wenz said he had talked to former members Herb Dunning and Ed Mitchell. They are doing well and send their regards. Ken also thanked Vice President Endorf for filling in for him at the March 13, 07 meeting. Andy Mihok read the Minutes of the March 13, 07 Woodworkers Meeting.The minutes were approved as read. Treasurer Joe Stack itemized our income and expenses since our March 13, 07 meeting.The report was accepted as read-A copy of which is on file. Sickness & Distress: 1) Everyone was happy to see Bill Reinhardt doing well after his knee operation. 2) Andy Vuolo reported that Tom Baines had a double knee operation. 3) Our condolences to Millie Lucarelli in the passing of her brother. Committee Reports: l) House & Bldg.—Jim Lagrosa reported he had purchased a gallon of concrete stain for the floor of the paint room. Also Jim reminded everyone the Annual Spring clean-up of the Woodworkers Shop and surrounding grounds will take place on FRIDAY, APRIL 27, 07 AT 9:00A.M. Andy Vuolo reported that the problem with the cordless phones in the shop was that the batteries had to be replaced. Safety,Training & Security: l) Ken reported that there were three (3) members at the last training session held on Saturday March 24, 07. Social Events: 1)Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankee Baseball game: Ken reported in the absence of Dom Lucarelli that the monies for the game must be in by our next meeting which will be May l. The cost per ticket is $15.00. 2 )York Golf: Bill Bond reported everything is set for our annual York golf outing May 14,15,16. The cost is $183.00 per person. All information about this event is posted on the bulletin board located in the kitchen for any one interested in going. Old Business: 1) Tom K—The raffle projects have been started. Still do not have a choice for lst prize. Also need project helpers and a chairperson to order the raffle tickets and assemble a team to sell them.Time is of the essence. 2) Craft Show: Andy Vuolo reported he has seven (7) rental spots left. Will also need help the day before setting up the tables etc. A question was raised about the advertising banners used to promote these events and did the Maintenance Dept have a bucket truck to install them.Bill Wagner suggested a method should be looked into to be able to raise and lower these banners from the ground. New Business: President Wenz pointed out that there will be a conflict with the May 8, 07 meeting date.Suggested that the meeting be rescheduled for May 1. All were in agreement. President Wenz asked about the annual Junior Woodworkers Project for this year.Vito Montone volunteered to chair this event. More info will be forthcoming in the near future. Art Magnus who is relocating to North Carolina said it was a real pleasure to be associated with the Woodworkers for the last ten (l 0) years. Al Auricchio reported that any Service Veteran from the Armed Forces can get a ten (10) percent discount on all purchases at Home Depot or Lowes. WOODWORKERS DRAFT MINUTES - March 13, 2007 Vice President Endorf called the meeting to order at 7:00p.m. Vice President Endorf led the members present in the Pledge of Allegiance. Vice President Endorf welcomed new member Al Decker. Andy Mihok read the minutes of the Feb. 13, 07 Woodworkers Meeting. The minutes were approved as read. Treasurer Joe Stach itemized our income and expenses since our Feb. 13, 07 meeting. The report was accepted as read, a copy of which is on file. Sickness & Distress: Everyone was happy to see Vice President Endorf back. Willie reported he is still in therapy but feeling and doing well. Committee Reports: Safety, training, security-it was announced that there will be a training and orientation class on Saturday, March 24 at 10:00 a.m. All are welcome. Purchasing: Bill Reinhardt suggested if anyone has any suggestions in regard to tools to write them down on the white bulletin board located by the paint room. The KREG pocket hole fastening system has been purchased together with an assortment of screws and plugs. A circle cutter has also been purchased. Social Events: Dom Lucarelli announced that he is working with John Saeli from the Adult Social Group for tickets for the Sunday August 5 game at 5:00pm against the Buffalo Bisons.Cost per person is $15.00.There is no meal involved. Make checks payable to the Hideout Woodworkers.The deadline for signup for the baseball game is June 5. Dom also contacted Villa Roma in regards to our annual fall "overnighter." He is looking at Sept. 9. Dom asked everyone to keep this date in the back of their minds. Further information will be forthcoming as we get nearer to this event. Bill Bond reported that the annual trip to York, Pa has been set for May 14,15, l6. The cost per person is $183.00 total for the three rounds of golf and lodging. Please sign up as soon as you can. Also if you know with whom you are riding, so indicate on your sign-up.This will help Bill in formulating the matchups for the shotgun start we are getting on Wednesday. Old Business: The 2007 membership dues are now overdue. lf you wish to remain a member please get these dues in as soon as possible. Hideout Woodworkers Draft Meeting Minutes - February 13, 2007 President Wenz called the meeting to order at 7:00p.m. President Wenz then led the members present in the Pledge of Allegiance. President Wenz welcomed Marie Maloney, a new applicant for membership in the Woodworkers. Andy Mihok read the minutes of the January 09, 2007 Woodworkers Meeting. The minutes were approved as read. Treasurer Joe Stach itemized our income and expenses since our January 09, 2007 meeting. The report was accepted as read. A copy of which is on file. President Wenz read a thank you note from Ed MitchelL He is getting settled in his new residence in South Carolina. Sickness & Distress: It was reported that Willie Endorf is doing fine after a brief hospital stay. Committee Reports: Safety & Training: President Wenz will be setting up a training session for new members and anyone else interested. Check the bulletin board in the kitchen for the date and time. Ken reported that he had spoken to the Hideout Security Department about expanding our building access security code base to accommodate our ever increasing membership. Purchasing: Ken asked if anyone might be interested in joining him and Bill Reinhardt on the purchasing committee to replace Ed Mitchell who has relocated. Social Events: Dom Lucarelli reported he is working on securing tickets for a Scranton/Wilkes Barre Yankee baseball game.Possibly it would be in August for a game including a meal in right field that is set aside for groups.Would probably need a commitment before ordering tickets. Dom also reported the annual Hawley/Lake Wallenpaupack Chamber of Commerce "Ice Tee Golf Toumament" will be held on Sunday, February 25. The cost is $15.00 per person.The cut- off date to participate is February 20. See Dom if interested. Bill Bond reported the annual golf outing in York, Pa. has been set for May 14,15,16. Cost per participant will follow. Bill is looking for a committee to help put this together. President Wenz mentioned that there are a lot of informative books and magazines dealing with wood projects, design manuals, tools etc. If interested sign them out, take them home, and when returning them check them off as returned. New Business: President Wenz demonstrated the workings of the KREG-pocket hole systems to those members present. November 14, 2006 President Ken Wenz called the meeting to order at 7PM and led the members in the Pledge of Allegiance. He welcomed new members Ellie and Orlando Gonzalez. In the absence of Secretary Fred Held, Ken read the minutes of the October10th meeting. The minutes were approved as read. Treasurer Joe Stach itemized our income and expenses since the October meeting. His report was accepted as read. A copy is on file. Correspondence: Andy Vuolo read a thank you card from Walter Joyce in which he expressed his appreciation for all of the “get well”' wishes he received during his recent knee surgery. Sickness and Distress: Al Aurruchio was in attendance looking ‘fit’ and ready for action. He recently underwent minor surgery. Committee reports: House & Building: Jim Lagrosa expressed appreciation to all who participated in the Fall Clean-Up—a job well done! He reviewed the plans for the December 6th luncheon—menu, sign-up, cost and requested all projects be removed from the tops of the benches. A further request that the bulletin board above the treasurer's box be used only for official business. All other information, i.e. pictures, cartoons, etc. be posted around the corner. Safety: Al Weinberg is still finding oily rags left out on the finishing room benches. YOU MUST discard used finishing materials in the red safety can. Al also discussed possible solutions to disposal of solvents. He also submitted information on an exhaust system for the finishing room - referred to the purchasing committee. Lastly he reviewed the proper method for charging our battery powered portable equipment. Do not store battery in its charger—remove it when the recharge is completed. Purchasing: Ed Mitchell is still spending money! Purchased new band saw blades, a chuck for the lathe and a "Woodworkers" branding iron. Bill Reinhardt outlined his purchases which included tape, glue, floor mats and oven cleaner—no Bill B. we do not have an oven, this is used to clean table saw blades! He is also looking into purchasing a small lathe designed for turning pen blanks. Dinner Dance: Dick Loughrey reported that our 10th Anniversary celebration was a huge success. All in attendance enjoyed the power point presentation, the meal, music and fellowship. The committee was given a round of applause. Nominating Committee: The proposed slate of offices for the year 2007 is as follows--President Ken Wenz, First Vice-President Willie Endorf, Second Vice-President Dominick Lucarelli, Secretary Fred Held and Treasurer Joe Stach. There were no further nominations. The secretary cast one unanimous ballot for the above slate. Christmas Toys: These projects are moving along at a good pace. The trains and tug boats are completed. The games and trucks are about halfway to completion. Sweat Shirts: Andy Vuolo reports he still has a few for sale. New Business: Dues: it was recommended by the executive board that the dues remain at $36.00 for the year 2007. A motion to this effect was made by Bruce Cameron and seconded by Dom Lucarelli. No discussion. Motion passed unanimously. Reminder dues are due January 1, 2007. Center pieces: We received a request from the HASG to borrow our Santa center pieces for their Holiday Party. Approved. We have 20. Announcements: Ken expressed his concern with members sawing used wood, especially wood that could contain nails. Use our “wand" to detect nails but above all be selective when cutting old or construction grade lumber. He also gave a number of hints to achieve good results when using the planer. Jim Graham reported that winter golf will begin in January at Sports-R-Us. Please sign up if you are interested. The minutes of the July 11, 2006 Woodworkers Meeting, was approved as read The Treasurers Report: Joe Stach. The Treasurer’s Report was accepted as read. A copy is on file. Correspondence Report: Sickness and Distress: Andy Vuolo. A card with $250.00 was received from the ladies of the LAW wishing the Woodworkers a happy anniversary. A letter was received from Susan Share thanking us for the Junior Woodworkers program, her son Timothy was very proud of the storage rack that he made. Committee Reports: House & Building Maintenance: Jim Lagrosa. Jim proposed the fall cleanup on Friday, October 27 and the Holiday Luncheon on Wednesday, December 6. A notice will be posted on the board to remind the members. The boiler room door handle was replaced. The computer will be installed Thursday. Jim will be changing the coffee system to loose packaging with several varieties available. Coffee fund donations have not kept up with consumption. Donations should be made commensurate with consumption. Safety, Training & Security: No report. Al Wienberg is not in attendance. The members are requested to not leave brushes in solvents overnight due to potential fire hazard. President Wenz will schedule an orientation for all new members on safety and equipment. Purchasing: Ed Mitchell. Ed purchased 5 new squeeze easy clamps and a new radial arm saw blade. Router and band saw blades will also be purchased. A new blade for the planer and other items is needed. $2000 was proposed to cover costs to the end of the year. Andy Mihok made a motion to approve funding, seconded by Bob Wiegand, passed unanimously. Social Events: Red Barons Baseball Bill Donleavy/Bob Wiegand: People liked the seats, costs should be the same unless the pavilion is selected. Estimated cost in the pavilion is $10, for minimum group of 50. Dinner can also be purchased at the stadium club. 10th Anniversary Dinner Dance: Dominic Lucarelli: There is room for a few more people. If any new members would like to go, they are welcome to attend. There currently are over 100 people that have sent in their forms. President Wenz stated that the dinner is in lieu of the holiday party. At the December event we always collect for toys for tots. Unwrapped gifts are normally brought in at that time. In lieu of collecting toys in December, the executive board would like this to be done in November or at the luncheon. This will also be covered at the October meeting, Bob Rebhun Golf Classic: Larry Lutz: The event will be held Wednesday September 20th at 11AM. Currently there are 9 foursomes signed up. If anyone would like to play, please let Larry know so that he can make up additional foursomes. Marie Rebhun has donated 2 ten cart passes for prizes. Hot dogs will be provided during the round, followed by a dinner comprised of prime rib and turkey along with potatoes and vegetables. Finger food, will also be provided. The cost is $35. Split Rock Golf Outing: Larry Lutz. Currently 29 couples have signed up out of the 30 planned. If anyone would like to go, rooms are available (2 in a room). There will be a 10 o’clock shotgun start. A scramble tournament is planned with captain and crew. Golf on Tuesday is optional; the cost is an additional $30. Anyone who would like to play golf without an over night stay should contact Larry. Travel time to Split Rock is 1 hour. There will be a hospitality room with complementary drinks. (Beer, wine and soda will be provided). Since there are currently only 29 couples signed up, they may not provide the hospitality suite. We will have a private dinning room for the dinner on Monday night and breakfast on Tuesday morning. 911 Reflection Park Tournament: Bob Wiegand: The Tournament will be held on September 23. If anyone would like to play, the cost is $75 which includes a donation to local fire/police. There will be a breakfast at 8:00 and barbecue will also be provided after the event. Old Business: Junior Woodworkers: Vito Montone. The Jr. Woodworkers was a success. There could have been more children in attendance. Twenty four children participated. Vito thanked every one for their help and Walter for monogramming their initials in each project. Folding Chairs: President Wenz Fifteen additional chairs are available at Ollie’s. Jeannine has the check. Since maintenance has not yet picked them up, anyone going there should pick up the check from Jeannine. New Business: Because there will not be a December meeting, President Wenz stated that if there is anything that needs attention, it can be brought up at the luncheon. A nomination committee consisting of Mike Nestor, Earl Treffinger and Marie Fleishmann was established to nominate new officers for the October meeting. Elections will be held at the November meeting. Nominations will also be accepted at the meeting. Next Years Raffle: Tom Kondakjian. A trellis planter and flower pot was suggested. If anyone has any ideas, contact Tom. Joint Participant Projects: President Wenz It was suggested that small toys made from wood could be crafted by the group and donated to a hospital children’s ward or toys for tots. Something along the line of trains, cars etc., something that could be mass produced. This would be a group project.
